Beginning // Meatless Mondays #2

So you've watched Cowspiracy, did some research of your own, and want to start eating vegetarian and maybe someday vegan... how do you start? Follow along for quick tips and ideas on how to transition into a Meatless, eco-friendly eating habit.

Tip #1: Start NOW, not tomorrow.

You just decided to make this change, so why continue to harm the planet and its precious furry inhabitants? The best changes happen quickly, but trust me, it won't be that easy. You may have weak moments and find yourself eating a juicy steak, and that's okay. As long as you consciously make decisions on the right direction and remember your goal: to decrease the demand of meat and dairy, even if it's just you making a small difference.

Tip #2: Watch some YouTube videos and research some cool blogs!

Getting fresh, new ideas for meals is a great way to start! There are some professional channels and blogs that make everything look like more work, so just keep looking until you find the sites and channels that work best for your lifestyle!
Some great YouTube channels are:
CheapLazyVegan
RawAlignment
HotForFood
Liv's Healthy Life
HighCarbHannah

Some Blog sites are:
HotForFood
Ellen Fisher
Forks Over Knives
Minimalist Baker
Oh She Glows

Tip #3: Never stop educating yourself!

There's always new studies on veganism/vegetarianism that show the effects this lifestyle has on the planet, body, mind, and the wallet. There's always new hacks on how to eat affordibly, too. There are books and documentaries that cover studies on veganism.
Some documentaries include:
Forks Over Knives (On Netflix)
Cowspiracy (on Netflix)
What the Health (buy on Vimeo.com only)
Earthlings (can be rented online)

The most famous and thorough study on veganism is The China Study, which was conducted from collecting blood samples and health records of actual people around China and comparing results to their diets. It's very fascinating! The book is available on Netflix and it's quickly covered in Forks Over Knives.
Here a few YouTube Video links for videos on veganism/vegetarianism and the environment:

We hope these three tips are helpful for now!
Every Monday we'll be posting more tips and meal ideas that are eco-friendly and Meatless.
